Brian joined Christie/Cummings in 2001 after practicing law with large national firm in Ottawa and working as in-house counsel at a national wealth management company .  After practicing primarily civil litigation for 15 years and appearing before all levels of Courts in Ontario, the Federal  Court (Trial Division) and numerous administrative tribunals, Brian is now restricting his practice to real estate, wills and estates and basic corporate commercial law at Christie/Cummings’ Stayner office.

Brian is a graduate of the University of Ottawa Law School and obtained his B.A. from the University of Western Ontario.

Prior to practicing law, Brian was a member of the Canadian Rowing Team for 6 years, competing at several World Championships, the World Student Games (1987) and two Olympic Games (1988 and 1992).  Brian won a silver medal at the 1990 World Championships as a member of the Heavy Men’s Eight.

Brian is a strong believer in community and is involved in numerous volunteer and not-for-profit organizations including:

  • E-3 Community Services Inc., Vice-President
  • The United Way of South Georgian Bay Community Impact Council, Chairman
  • The Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport, Anti-Doping Review Board Panelist
  • The Collingwood Dragon Boat and Canoe Club, Commodore and founding Director
  • The Ontario Canoe Association, Western Ontario Division (Sprint), Director
  • Collingwood Waterfront Harbourlands Advisory Committee, Member

Brian is a member of the Ontario Coaches Association and is a certified rowing, sprint paddling and minor hockey coach.  Brian has coached minor soccer, minor hockey, rowing, dragon boating and sprint paddling.

Brian is married and the proud father of three sons.
