Carole practices corporate and commercial law, contract law, residential and commercial real estate law, and property law, employment law, and civil and commercial dispute resolution. She regularly advises individuals and corporate clients on a variety of complex legal matters.
Carole joined Christie/Cummings after several years of practicing civil and commercial litigation and dispute resolution, real estate, property law, commercial and corporate law, as well as acting on construction matters, and employment law matters in Parry Sound and Muskoka and Simcoe areas. She gained successful trial and court experience and developed strong advocacy skills. Prior to that, Carole practiced civil and commercial litigation and insurance defence law in Toronto, and also worked as in-house Senior General Legal Counsel for a major international insurance and financial services company.
Prior to being called to the Bar in Ontario, Carole articled with a leading litigation law Bay Street firm in Toronto where she frequently appeared on a array of matters before the Superior Court of Justice, and conducted negotiations, mediations, and arbitrations.
Carole grew up in Northern Ontario and obtained her law degree in the French Common Law Program from the University of Ottawa in 2011. Her first language spoken at home was French and she is fluently bilingual and able to offer legal services in both French and English. During law school in Ottawa, Carole’s focus of study was International Commercial Arbitration. As a law student, Carole worked at the Canada Revenue Agency and with the Department of Justice Canada. Prior to law school, Carole attended York University to complete the Law and Society and Philosophy Honours Double Major program. During her undergraduate studies, Carole worked in the hospitality and tourism industry as a Flight Attendant with a major airline, and volunteered doing legal research for publication at Osgood Law School, and achieved the Dean’s Academic Excellence and Achievement list.
Carole is an outdoor adventure and travel enthusiast. She can often be found hiking, paddling in a kayak or canoe or paddle board, or cycling trails, and exploring with her family and friends and her sweet rescue dog. Carole loves music, especially live music, and movies, and theatre. In the winter, she enjoys skiing and snowshoeing, trying new restaurants, and cooking new or signature recipes for family and friends.
Carole enjoys volunteering her time in her community such as being a Big Sister with Big Brothers, Big Sisters, and serving meals with Lawyers Feed the Hungry, rescuing and fostering animals, teaching kids to ice skate, and sitting on a board of Directors for a non-profit organisation.
